A new 11-year long virtual Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been announced at the end of November 2025. The IPP company Enery has signed a virtual PPA for a solar PV plant in Romania, where it will physically supply power directly to Nokian Tyres.
Starting in 2025, this partnership will ensure Nokian Tyres receives zero CO2 energy from Enery’s solar project, located in southern Romania for a duration of 11 years. Nokian Tyres is building a new tire factory to Oradea, Romania. The facility is the first full-scale zero CO2 tire factory in the world and its commercial production is expected to start in early 2025.
Under this agreement, Enery will supply clean energy from newly constructed PV assets with a capacity of 50 MW. The project is designed to generate approximately 80 GWh of renewable energy annually, which is equivalent to supplying 47,226 homes with clean energy and saving 20,000 tons of CO2 emissions.
